Aligned with Provincial efforts to move towards a climate-resilient health system, Northern Health is developing a Climate Change and Health portfolio of work.
A health system that is climate resilient is "capable of anticipating, responding to, coping with, recovering from, and adapting to climate-related shocks and stress, to bring about sustained improvements in population health, despite an unstable climate" (WHO, 2021).
Addressing climate change is a shared responsibility of the entire health system, and intersectoral work is essential to achieving co-benefits of climate adaptation and mitigation.
