The summer gathering on August 29th at William Konkin Elementary (WKE) in Burns Lake, hosted by UNBC members, William Konkin Elementary School and School District 91 (SD91), was a day filled with exploration, learning, and reflection. The day commenced with a warm welcome, including land acknowledgments and an overview of the day's proceedings. Participants were oriented to the goals and objectives of the gathering. An engaging session was conducted by Barry Booth to introduce participants to wetlands, and the various resources available for wetland-based education and teaching. Following the morning session, participants took a break and collected their packed lunches before embarking on a brief, scenic walk to the nearby Rod Reid Wetland. Upon arrival at Rod Reid Wetland, a circle of introductions was conducted, allowing participants to get to know each other better. Attendees were also oriented to the activities planned for the day. The day's activities commenced with a choice between two engaging options: exploring aquatic invertebrates or engaging in nature art. These activities were designed to enhance outdoor learning and teaching skills.
